Taste of Africa is a world-class performance and workshop program suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds. It is a fantastic catalyst for all to explore the richness and diversity of West African Culture.
Asanti Dance Theatre is an internationally renowned performance company that has worked with students around the world and throughout Australia. Their facilitators are also among Australia’s best Afro-Contemporary dance performers.
You will learn about the djembe drum and its origin, and the basic techniques involved in playing. In the dance they will get moving in ways they never thought they could – learning to execute the movements and their relationship to the drum, and how music and dance work intrinsically together.
